Kayte Gillespie, Street Saviours Outreach Society and the Fentanyl Epidemic
Not all angels reign in heaven.
When the volunteers of Street Saviours Outreach Society begin their nightly mission, they comb the streets and alleys in and around downtown eastside Vancouver (DTES) to bring light, life, love and harm reduction to those caught in the web of poverty, homelessness, mental health and addictions challenges. They look out for those in danger of death from overdose and administer life-saving measures. This team of volunteers have revived over hundreds of overdoses from Fentanyl, a killer drug. Active team member, Kayte Gillespie, talks about SSOS and how they bring hope and life among those that sometimes have no choice but to live in the darkness.
