HOW SINGER TOTA MENDEZ LOST AND FOUND HER VOICE: A Story of Survival from SARS H1N1 Coronavirus

"On the third week of my illness, I thought that I was going to die." Ten years ago, during the SARS H1N1 pandemic, singer/songwriter/vocal coach Tota Mendez, thought that she was seeing the last few days of her life. Bedridden for 6 weeks, she cried as she breathed as if pieces of broken glass were piercing through her nose and throat. After being bedridden for 6 weeks, recovery was a dark, excruciating process as this singer lost her voice. It was a painful journey towards recovery but she had one victory: she conquered her battle with alcohol. Coughing her way through ten years, she strived to live an alcohol-free life and in recent years, has finally regained her voice. The nightingale started to sing again! Join us as Tota shares her inspiring story. A survivor of SARS H1N1 Coronavirus, she has finally found her place again, cooking during her spare time and singing in front of thousands as part of the highly successful Tina Turner Show and Relive the Music Concert Tour.
